- Growing up, Troy knew he wanted to be a
- professional athlete, but his first choice
- wasnΓÇÖt football. It was baseball! He was so
- good that several scouts for major league
- teams wanted to draft him straight out of
- high school. But his parents had taught him
- that itΓÇÖs important to get a college education.
- Troy didnΓÇÖt want to skip college to play a
- sport. His only problem was telling that to
- the baseball scouts!
-
- The night before the Major League Baseball
- draft, Troy got a call from a scout. He wanted
- to know what it would take to get Troy to play
- baseball. Troy said it would take a lot . . . of
- money! He asked for an amount that was so
- large nobody would pay it. And that was the
- end of his baseball career.
